Sat Nav Celebrity Bob Dylan leads the way
This month singer-song writer Bob Dylan talked about the possibility of becoming the next celebrity “Sat Nav” voice. During his BBC Radio 6 Music Sunday show on the theme of street maps, he publicized that he is in talks with a small number of car manufacturers about becoming the voice of their GPS system. He informed listeners of his progress so far: “I’m talking to a couple of car companies about the possibility of being the voice of their GPS system. I think it would be good if you are looking for directions and you heard my voice saying something like, ‘Left at the next street… No, right… You know what? Just go straight….

It looks like Bob Dylan may be joining a very eclectic bunch that have loaned their voices for Tomtom, Garmin, Navman and an expanding array of the voice-guided navigation systems. Downloadable voices include Kim Cattrall from Sex and the City, Fawlty Towers actor John Cleese’s Basil Fawlty, the unforgettable Victor Meldrew character from One Foot in the Grave and not forgetting Homer Simpson from the world’s favourite cartoon.
