Garmin Nuvifone G60 in UK Early 2010

The Garmin Nuvifone G60 is a GPS device with mobile phone ability; basically it’s a satnav with a phone. One of the main advantages of this new device is you don’t need to download all the maps and it doubles as a hands-free car kit. Garmin and rival TomTom have other hands-free GPS units that let you do this by connecting your Bluetooth phone to the GPS device but none quite as swish as the G60.

Garmin Nuvi Phone G60

With Wi-Fi capability and 5-meg camera the Nuvifone has a very nice geo-location feature that tags photos to let you know exactly where they were snapped. It also features an array of location based services (LBS) technology and a very useful “last position” attribute that navigates you back to a pre-determined point of origin such as you car after a big shopping fest. Other features include a 3.5-inch WVGA resistive touch screen, 3G connectivity, 2.5mm headphone jack and 2GB of expandable internal memory.

Initially rolled out last October in the USA the G60 is set to debut in the UK early 2010, watch this space as they’re predicted to fly off the shelves.

Pentagon GPS and Garmin Sat Nav Red Nose Day

You might be thinking that all the employees at Garmin Sat Nav headquarters have gone mad! Well you could be right but the abundance of red noses has a good cause – yes it’s that institution of an event the great British red nose day and all those at Garmin have been turning up in fancy dress, organising raffles and baking cakes to raise cash for charity. Red nose day is an event where celebrities, politicians and ordinary folk get up to all sorts of mischief and self-deprecation in order to raise extraordinary amounts of money for good causes. Less than a week after the event took place the coffers are nearly touching the £60,000,000 mark, what a fantastic achievement! Pentagon GPS would like to thank all their employees and customers for money they have donated to this year’s event.
